Have you ever wanted to paint a pattern on a surface that wasn't the same size as the line drawing?
You have a few options... you can take the pattern to a Kinko's and get it resized to fit your surface (which is great if there is one near)... but for those of us who don't have that option, we are stuck resizing the pattern ourselves. Sometimes it's tricky!!
But now, we have this awesome new tool that calculates enlargements and reductions of just about anything from photos to quilts. It provides the number of times reduction as well as the percentage of enlargement or reduction. Fractions below an inch are printed in blue to make them more visible!
This tool makes it incredibly easy to resize our floorcloth patterns to the anyway tray! (or vice versa) See how in the video below! (or read the instructions after the video)
To see a close up of the dial, click the picture above and then view the second image on the window that pops up.
Dial is 6". (This is the largest visible size we could get!)
STEP 1:
•Measure the dimension of the item you want to enlarge/reduce (in this example, a length of 6”).
•Find that measurement on the inner dial.

STEP 2:
•Find your desired size on the outer dial and match it with your original measurement on the inner dial (in this example, we enlarge from 6” to 10”).

STEP 3:
•Check the window on the inner dial. The top set of numbers show you the percentage you will use to enlarge or reduce the dimensions for your project (in this example, about 170%).

I bought your sizing tool after seeing your video demo for using it to enlarge or shrink patterns. I also decorate cakes and there are many times that I need to make a pattern bigger for them as well. I tried this tool over the weekend and it works like a charm for enlarging cake patterns too. I normally have to print and print and print to get just the right size. With this tool, I didn't have to do that. Absolutely love it. Thank you for a great tool.

I would never be without this sizing tool. It is probably my most used gadget I own. Its so nice not to have a pile of just a hair in the wrong size papers in the garbage can next to my copier. I can't say enough about how much I love it.

As a self-taught painter, I have had to struggle through trial and error many times to get patterns to fit the surfaces I have chosen. Just for the heck of it I bought a proportional scale about five years ago and am glad I did. A time, paper and ink saver. You just have to buy one.

As an old time graphic artist, I have been using the proportional scale for 25 years. This is a simple to use product that is a must have for any artist!

This is one of the best products I've ever used. It takes all the guess work out of resizing so you are not wasting a lot of paper trying to get the pattern "just a little smaller" or "just a little bigger" PLUS it's so easy to use.I highly recommend it.

I have used this tool to resize and enlarge my projects for several years after suffering with the formula passed on by other artists. This tool is the best. Never any guessing. I highly recommend it to everyone.
